Ibrahima Ly is a professor in Public Law and Political Science at Cheikh Anta Diop University in
Dakar and has more than 30 years of experience. He is the head of the Laboratory of Studies
and Research in Politics, Environmental and Health Law of the Faculty of Legal and Political
Sciences.
He worked also as a legal consultant for various institutions, among others:
– Agence Nationale des Ecovillages for the Ecovillage program (ANEV), Niger Basin Authority
(ABN) for water regulation;
– Regional project to support pastoralism in the Sahel (PRAPS), Agricultural and Rural Sector
Rehabilitation Project (PRESAR) for the revision of the Forest Policy and the Forestry and
Hunting Codes of Guinea Bissau;
– CORAF/WECARD for the monitoring of the implementation of the ECOWAS Seed Regulation.
Professor Ibrahima Ly is member of the Board of Directors of the International Council of
Comparative Environmental Law (CIDCE), the honorary President of the Senegalese Association
for Environmental Law (A.S.D.E).
He is also a member of other different organizations and committees in environmental law such
as:
– The Committee of Experts of the Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Authority (ARSN) of
Senegal.
– International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN);
– African Network of Environmental Lawyers (R.A.J.E).
– National Biodiversity Committee of Senegal.
– National Biosafety Committee of Senegal.
– Interdisciplinary Network on Biosafety (RIBIOS).
Professor Ibrahima Ly speaks and reads French, English, Pulhar, Wolof and Malinké.
